Ova Works

In the 1990’s I started Ova Works to encompass my professional creative endeavors, primarily in film and video production. Since 2000, the business has concentrated on my work in user-centered design and visual media.

The Road I've Traveled

I was raised in the Berkshires in western Massachusetts. There I studied and performed regionally in the arts of dance and theater.

East Coast Girl with West Coast Leanings: Occidental I become!

After short stints in Nantucket, MA and St. Thomas, V. I., I moved to San Francisco, CA. For a number of years I studied and worked in independent film and video production. Wearing every hat from Director to Production Assistant, I worked on feature and short films, music and corporate videos, and commercials. I love this industry and its fanatic people.

As the Internet came into being, I was drawn into it and all things web. Seeing the potential of this new medium, I decided to learn and work using computers as my main tool. This led to a Systems Administration position at Korn/Ferry International.

Always with the goal of using my technical skills to a creative end, I began my education in web design technologies at San Francisco State University’s Multimedia Program.

After completing SFSU’s web program, I was hired by Apple, Inc. to design a series of website templates for their Apple Learning Interchange. Immediately following that freelance work, I accepted a position as a User-Interface Designer/Analyst with Aaron Marcus and Associates. Through this highly principled and talented company, my knowledge and skills in user-centered design and development were honed.

The Road I'm Traveling

I continue my work as a creative always open to new opportunities and the discovery of new tools, new ways of seeing, and new ways of creating.
